Response Expectations:

After-hours Biomedical Technician Response:

  • Answer page by phone within 15 minutes.
  • Troubleshoot the problem over the phone.
  • Determine if it is necessary to come on-site (for example, there are no spare dialysis machines left or there is a water supply problem).
  • If needed, the technician will be on-site within one hour.

Dialysis Staff Response:

  • Swap the dialysis machine for a spare if one is available.
  • Work with the technician over the phone to see if the problem can be resolved with guidance from the technician.

On-Call Coverage Schedule:

Regular Weekday Hours: Call Biomedical Engineering One-Call Desk: 617-724-1333

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Call is taken by our One-Call operators and forwarded to the appropriate technician.
  • If the call is urgent, page 20839.
  • Note: Please do not page individual technicians’ pagers directly as that person may not available. Our One-Call operators know which staff is present and available to respond.

Early mornings and After hours: Page 20839 (Dialysis Team Pager)

  • Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays, Holidays and Sundays when unit is open. 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
  • Note: Dialysis technician call pager 20839 is rotated amongst trained technicians. Staff is off-site and should be called in only for emergencies.

For emergencies outside the hours included above:

  • Pager ID 24800, cell phone 617-678-5991 to reach our general on-call technician who will respond for any issues and forward it to a Dialysis-trained technician if there is an issue with the water system or dialysis machine.
