Mara Atwood joined MGH Biomedical Engineering in early January in a new role as our Site Operations Manager for the community hospitals we support – Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and Nantucket Cottage Hospital. In this role, Mara will be distributing her time among the three hospitals, serving as our primary “account manager” and spending time at each site as well as at MGH. She will be based at both NWH and MGH (50 Staniford Street) with periodic visits to both MVH and NCH.
The Site Operations Manager role was created to better support our MGB customers where we have contracted our Biomedical Engineering services. Mara will have supervisory responsibility for the NWH Biomed technician team and will work closely with Mike Cusack for technician resourcing for the island hospitals and with Natalia and Jared for clinical engineering and clinical systems engineering resources.
Mara received her Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from UMass Dartmouth and her Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Connecticut. Her experience in clinical engineering, operations and personnel management extends from her time at the University of Connecticut Health Center to biomedical technology service providers Aramark Healthcare Technologies, Sodexo CTM, and Agiliti Health, Inc.
